PBS' pilot episode of "Art in Real Life" focuses on facial prosthetic artists

How is art used to help society function? The pilot episode of this documentary-style series focuses on facial prosthetics artists, featuring Certified Clinical Anaplastologist, Michaela Calhoun, and Board Certified Ocularist, William Lakey, of Prosthetics at Graphica Medica. The film shows how sculpting, painting, and deep collaboration with patients create prostheses that restore dignity, confidence, and self-expression.and how they blend science and art in a restorative and often times emotional process for their patients. This episode also includes the interesting and rich history of Minnesota being a nationwide hub for prosthetics starting in the 1800s.
